What Books Are Generation Z Climate Activists Reading to Advance Environmental Justice and Climate Justice?

By: EJ News Today | December 29, 2022

Climate “doomers” believe it’s too late to reverse global warming and there is no hope for humanity. You will find no such doomerism with these young activists who are using their talents, energy and social media skills to inspire for a better and more equitable world. In addition to attending rallies and protesting en masse, these EJ champions are turning to reading and authoring books to promote climate justice.

Here are some of the recent books authored and being read by these young EJ advocates:

  • Taking on the Plastics Crisis by Hannah Testa (Penguin, 2020)
  • Youth to Power: Your Voice and How to Use It by Jamie Margolin (Hachette, 2020)
  • Running by Natalia Sylvester (Clarion, 2020)
  • Don’t Call Me a Hurricane by Ellen Hagan (Bloomsbury, 2022)
  • Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer (Milkweed, 2013)
  • Braiding Sweetgrass for Young Adults by Monique Gray Smith (Zest, 2022)
